Shadertastic - A Versatile Shader-based Plugin for Filters and Transitions

Shadertastic is a flexible OBS plugin designed to help you create custom filters and transitions, especially suited for streaming but adaptable for other media projects. It strikes a balance between specialized plugins, like obs-blur-plugin, and more generic tools, such as obs-shaderfilter, which can sometimes be challenging to use or set up.

At its core, Shadertastic is shader-based, making it easy for both developers and creators to...

I followed the instructions on creating a custom folder for transitions and effects, but I am still only limited to default transitions and effects, even when trying to use ones from your library.

Can you send a screenshot of you configuration, and the content of the folder ?
The issue has been resolved. Within the “Shadertastic” window inside of OBS, (Tools → Shadertastic) under “Additional effects path” it is stated that two subfolders would be created -- which never were created, so I created them myself and proceeded to either place filters in the “filters” folder and transitions in the “transitions” folder. Simply: these folders don't matter, just throw both transitions and filters into the same folder and point the tool at it.

Pretty solid idea to make something custom based on things like obs-blur-plugin and obs-shaderfilter. Honestly, I think it’s just easier when everything’s bundled together like this — less jumping around between plugins and more time actually creating stuff. Thanks for putting it out there.

You're right. The filters and transitions folders are there when you want to develop your own effects, unpacked. When packed, you don't need those.

I'm updating the plugin for more clarity, thanks for pointing that out!

Hi. Do you have any plans to add this to Flatpak? I'm on Bazzite and would love to use this but it doesn't show up on OBS after adding it manually (at least for me anyway!)

It's planned but not in the immediate future, as I've never done that. I'm open to pull requests though, if you manage to do it (even a half baked solution, so I can have a look)

In the current version, if I only want to apply displacement map to a part of the source, the area that does not actually contain the displacement map will also be affected by the X Y position parameters as shown in the picture. I think this is not right, and I hope to fix it.

Hey, would it be possible to add a timer to zoom in to the face zoom feature? I feel like that would be an amazing addition

Specifically a time function to control how quickly it zooms into your face, and then a reverse if possible. I'm imagining it being able to zoom in but then stay locked onto the face once it arrives at the zoom level you want, and then some way to reverse that.

Hi, nice idea for a plugin, have a suggestion and a bug report:
Could it be possible to have in the Shadertastic Settings a way to uncheck the default filters that I know I'll never use (facecam ones mostly), they kind of eat a lot of space in the dropdown

Downloaded the Simplex Noise effect to test and I'm unable 100% to make it appear in the effects list, tried every possible combination of folder/subfolder naming, tried "developper" (typo there :P) mode on and off and the effect does not appear. I'm using OBS 31.1.1 in portable mode, windows 10.
Noticed that whenever I open OBS and try to select a new folder in the plugin settings, it always defaults to "OBS\bin\64bit\" so tried to place the folders there and now it detected the TEMPLATE effect (does it only mirror horizontally the source?) but the "simplex-rev1.filter.shadertastic" one is nowhere to be found so I hit reload to see if it appears and all that did was breaking the TEMPLATE filter, it shows the source in red and a text ERR over it (closing and opening OBS seems to have fixed this and is not breaking again so not sure). Resuming, either the plugin is bugged or I am doing something wrong, but I tried almost every combination possible so no idea.

Mmmm looks like if i delete the shadertastic filter from the source item and re-add it AND if the filter files I downloaded from your website are OUTSIDE of the effect folder (makes no sense... if intended, wouldn't that be kinda untidy? mixing effect and transition files in the same folder), then they do appear and work... so I assume the reloading function of the effect is what it's broken, the filter is not updating with the new list of effects even if you reload with the button or reopen OBS. Hope this helps find the issue.

On other note, any updates on the docs? Filter and Transition References in particular
