Question / Help Settings Won't Apply!!!

Okay, I just got OBS and looked at a tutorial on YouTube to help me work this obs out. When and every time I go to settings and hit apply and I go to a different option in settings, i'll go back to the other setting that i'd apply and all the settings are back to the default. PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!

Where did you install your OBS to? And are you using a portable or installed version?

It's possible the settings files are somehow read-only on your machine.

Installed version and it's in my Appdata > roaming file. do I need the settings to be read-only?

No, you don't want them to be read-only. Find the settings file and look at the file properties, making sure it's not read-only.

i'm assuming that global is the settings file, if so I can't find the file properties, and if not I don't know where they are exactly.

The settings are called "profiles" in OBS. You can find them in the "profiles" folder in the AppData files. C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\OBS\profiles

There's a file for each of your profiles, which you want to right-click -> properties, then at the bottom there should be a checkbox "Read-only" (or something along those lines). Make sure it's unchecked.

They're unchecked when I clicked properties and the settings still won't change.

Have you tried creating a second profile in OBS? Maybe the settings will apply then.

Have you tried removing the obs folder from %appdata% and launching obs without running as admin?

William I just made a new profile and the read only thing was checked and unchecked it, so I went to my setting and as soon as I finished with one selection of settings and I hit apply. It FINALLY did, thank you William for helping me out and have a good day.
