Hey Guys,

Was wondering if anyone could help me get the best settings to stream to twitch with below are my specs.

I7 4770k
R9 290x 4G OC
120 GB SSD
1TB HDD
8GB RAM
Screen resoloution 1920x1080

Internet Connection Settings

40-60 Download
Upload varies depending one the testing site but typically the results come in at 4-5MB+

Games i will stream will vary, currently it will be the ARMA 2 Dayz Mod mainly and the Dayz Standalone

Other Games
Dark Souls 2
Xcom
Metro
Wolfenstein
Arma 3
Payday 2.

Whenever I have attempted to stream with settings I have taken from other sources the stream seems to be pixelated. Can anyone give advise on what to set the setting at I will give them a try and update if they do or don't work.

Any other questions or information please just ask.

Thanks in advance

May we see a log file? Have you tried analyzing your log file with the log file analyzer in the help menu?

Pixeallation doesn't have anything to do with the connection -- it has to do with the amount of bitrate you use. 720p 60fps with high motion may require a bit more bitrate. Try 3000, or perhap 3500 if absolutely needed.

If you can't spare the bitrate, then perhaps you could try lowering the FPS to 30 to regain some quality in exchange for framerate.

Games with lots of grass like ArmA and DayZ are pretty much always going to have poor looking grass in a stream, it's simply too much detail for the encoder to manage within the bitrate constraints of a service like Twitch. 720p60 at 2500 Kbps will look probably "okay" for other things but the more motion there is, the worse it will look. You should consider 720p30 at 2500 Kbps instead, with better compression by using the faster or fast presets when possible.

Hey Jim and Sapiens,

Thank you both for the help I have lowered the frames to 30 and adjusted the bitrate and changed to the fast setting, it is safe to say this has made a massive diffrence with regards to pixelation. Of course it is still there but i understand this is due to the nature of the game I am playing.

Can I ask, should this be saved as a seperate profile and set another up for games like Dark Souls etc.

If so which settings would you recommend for other games or will I be best leaving the settings as they are.

Thanks again for the help it is greatly appreciated.

The 4770K is quite a good CPU for streaming, and should be able to handle the above settings in most of the games you play. If you do notice that a particularly demanding game is having decreased performance, you can always go back to Settings > Advanced and put the preset back to faster or veryfast to reduce the load on your CPU.
