While I was using file output for recording I ran out of disk space which caused the file I was recording to be corrupted.

What else should happen when you run out of disk space? It's not like OBS can start deleting files to make room for your recording. Plan ahead and make sure you have enough room or invest in a bigger hard drive, they're pretty cheap these days. ;)

Use FLV instead of MP4 if you don't want to risk corruption.

Technically if you run out of space, it can't write the required MP4 data to actually save the rest of the file to prevent corruption. It's difficult to really work with. I would recommend getting a bigger hard drive or freeing up some space or something.

Fair enough, however I had assumed it would simply stop recording as a safety precaution when the disk space was running low instead of making the entire file corrupt.

Thanks for the tips

You are correct, it admittedly does not check disk space, which is an oversight.
