Robotic sounding music or microphone

Hi all!

Thanks for taking a look! I've been having a nightmare with this issue.

In brief, I run online fitness classes, which I stream through a stream key to Facebook Live.

I have a external mixer that has two things plugged in to it:

1. A wireless microphone so people can hear me.
2. My mobile, which is playing music.

The mixer is then plugged in to my computer, where OBS picks it up. The mixer is a USB model, and OBS sees the microphone and the music on separate channels. It should also be noted that I have a timer, which beeps after the set (usually 30 seconds) on a third audio channel.

I had a big problem when I started with either my mic or my music going robotic. This seems to happen randomly during the stream (which is 45 mins long), sometimes not occurring, sometimes occurring on the mic, other times the music, and fixing itself after a random period or time (from 5 mins to 30).

I spent an evening in the forum, and made the following changes that I can remember:

1. I changed my sample rate to 48khz

2. Channel Mono (on the Audio settings tab)

3. I muted and turned down the audio channels that have nothing coming through on them (3 in total).

4. Encoder to x264, bitrate 4000 kbps, keyframe interval 2, CPU usage faster.

5. All audio bitrates to 128

After this the audio was AMAZING for about 2 or 3 weeks. But in the past three days there has been robotic audio again. Yesterday and Wednesday it was the mic (music fine), and tonight it was the music (mic fine).

For reference, Facebook asks for the following settings for audio on streams:

Audio-Sample-Rate: 48 KHz

Audio-Bitrate: 128 Kbit/s Mono

Audio-Codec: AAC

My log for tonights session is below:

If you need any other information please just let me know!

Best wishes,

Simon

It starts to go south right on start-up. Something up with the Behringer & your capture card settings are off. This is all before you started streaming. Try to clean this up, then test some. Run OBS in Admin.

Ahh okay. Thanks! Do you have any ideas or suggestions as to which way I can go to look at sorting the Behringer mixer out?

Also what advantages will running OBS on Admin provide sorry? Will it sort these issues, or allow me to locate the problem i some way?

I'm not too sure on what needs to be done with the mixer at this point. In another thread I was helping in, there was audio issues with an Allen-Health Zeti-8 & the fix was to install Voicemeeter but this may or may not work for your situation. Hopefully somebody with a Behringer can chime in since I don't have anyway to test if it will work. Here's a link to that thread, if you're interested.

You had some minor rendering lag, running in Admin should eliminate it & I think once everything is running properly, the little bit of encoding lag that you were getting may clear up as well.
