Question / Help Restrict source to specific size and specific position?

So like nearly anyone who streams or plans to stream, I have an overlay for my streams. That all works fine.

The ---only--- issue I have is my stream source (a windows program) shows in full size under the overlay causing some cut off. if I try to change positing in the properties it just move part of the window out of view.

Is there no way to just click/drag re-size it?

How can I force it to show the full window with absolutely zero cut-off yet restrict it to a specific area of what gets streamed.

Here's a picture as an example:

I thought I had done this before but maybe not. I bet I'm missing the most basic thing ever.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Click the 'Edit scene' button under the preview window. Click on the scene element you want to reposition/resize. Grab it by the corner handles that appear, or click in the middle and drag it around.

You can use ALT, CTRL, and SHIFT to crop, unlock the aspect ratio, and turn off edge snap. Click 'Edit Scene' again to lock the changes, so you don't accidentally move your layout around while you're live.

Do be aware that resizing an element in OBS is not going to deliver as high quality as resizing it in an image editing program to the proper size to begin with, as far as static overlays are concerned.
