Question / Help Resolution settings advice

Hello

First I want to thanks all people who helped me to setup my stream.

It is running really good but I have a technical question to adjust my resolution

I'm broadcasting my games using Avermedia Live gamer portable and xbox One.

On my tv xbox One resolution is 1920x1080
My laptop resolution is 1366x768

I want to use the "golden point" setting 720p@30 fps with 2000kbps to have any audience issue.

What is the best resolution to set into obs ?

Set it to 1366x768 and downsize it to 1280x720 ?
Or set it to 1920x1080 and downsize it to 1280x720 ?

Mabye other choice ?

I stream xbox One video games using my laptop.

Last question: is it better to plug my headset (xp400 turtle beach) to my laptop or directly to my Avermedia Live gamer for microphone capture ?

Thanks for your useful advices and explanations.

So you think I need to set 1080p downsale to 720p into obs with this setup ?

1366 is the definition of my laptop screen but I run games on xbox One.

It is not better to directly set obs to 1280x720 ?

It's very strange cause I have another control panel when I check the lgp stream engine on my obs scenes.

Here it is (not my settings)

Wich one between obs and this panel has the priority ? I tried to set low settings on this control panel and my stream effectively looked crappy

So I need to put the same settings as I can ?

That's a lot of questions but I don't understand why I have two ways of settings (obs and lgp stream engine)

Your laptop resolution settings are completely irrelevant when recording or streaming console footage with a capture card. If the capture card receives and outputs 1920x1080 video (the Xbox outputs 1080p to the capture card, then the capture card outputs 1080p to OBS), set your base resolution to that in OBS and downscale to 1280x720.

From the picture you posted Stream Engine is configured for 1280x720, so you may want to change that if it doesn't match the console's output.

So i need to set OBS in 1920x1080 downscale to 1280x720 and put the same setting on my stream engine ?

With Lanczos resize ?

It will be better than directly set 1280 x 720 ? What happens if i directly set 720p without downscale ?

The stream engine should be set to 1920x1080 if your Xbox outputs that.
So the Xbox decides that for us. Then you can set OBS to that resolution too, to use a downscale filter OR you can just set OBS to your desired Output resolution (1280x720), but then you would get no filtering (as we do not downscale).
You can test both methods and see which looks better to you.

As you advice me I set the resolution to 1920x1080 then downsale it to 1280x720 with lanczos filter and my stream looks better.

Characters are much fine.

Thanks for your advice I will keep this setup for all my games hope it will run well !
