Question / Help Removing microphone static

Hi,

I'm trying to get rid of my new mic's static to try to make my stream better. I've noticed that the static is nearly undetectable on skype calls, but if I stream it's pretty noticeable when I speak. I've read this is probably because programs like Skype have an audio filter but OBS doesn't. So, what would be the simplest way to cut out this static? I don't think I can really get the mumble/vac method to work with my current setup.

I use a microphone that plugs in by 3.5mm, and I've seen that that probably creates the problem. Would the simplest solution be to get some adapter to USB (and would I expect that that should fix the problem), or just get another mic that goes through USB? Or is there some other easy way I could put in a noise gate that should solve the problem?

Thanks.
