Question / Help Recording xbox?

So I know Snagit became a go-to recording software for recording xbox and ps3 (using a usb). I just have a feeling that OBS can do this too and much better. Is there a plugin that can do this? or should I try to make one?

You have to use a capture card to do that, but yes, OBS can record capture card output (except for Hauppague, Roxio, and a few other minor capture cards).

it doesn't look like Snagit needs a capture card.... this goes directly to the xbox.

Uh...when you say "using a USB", what do you mean? What is it that is plugged in via USB? Surely that is a capture card, no?
