Hey,
I searched some posts about this on the forum and there was a lot of talk about other program 'hooks', as far as im aware im only using Steam and OBS with no overlays or anything.

I've recently just finished recording a series on Aperture tag and thought i'd move on and do Styx: Master of shadows next, unfortunatly everytime i hit the record(or preview) button the game crashes. Looking at some google searches for optimal settings i've played around with settings to no avail. Screen capture works fine, however game capture even in windowed mode is crashing it.

Theres a link to the Log, having looked at the analysis i've tried bitrates from anywhere between 1000 and 16000 so i don't beleive that is the problem.

Thanks for any help

I'm not on my pc atm but as far as I know ain't keyint meant to be 2 not 250?
Try down-scaling to 1280x720, also " encoder thread frame - [100%] [avg time: 1.93 ms] [children: 1.3%] [unaccounted: 98.7%]" the unaccounted is waaaay too high.

I would suggest starting fresh just re-install OBS and see if that makes any difference.

Hate to bump this but i've been trying to work this out pretty much all day now with no progress. I managed to record some footage from a game called audiosurf, however poker night at the inventory crashes just like styx did. I've checked the task manager and theres no massive spike in cpu usage (obs uses ~10% when recording) and all games work fine outside of game capture.

Currently using the settings recommended on this forum for good quality local recording

I do indeed, oddly though my driver disk didn't have windows 8.1 drivers on...so now that i've downloaded and installed the last stable driver for it and disabled GX (seen a lot about that) The game is still crashing as it was before. cheers for the help btw

Do you seriously have 4GB Ram? from your logs it looks like you do so I would say bump that up to 8 or 16GB, 4GB is far too low specially if you want to stream at the same time as gaming, when I stream it takes around 4-6GB of ram depending on the settings.

Your other log it showed 4GB ram and now its updated in your new log to 16GB lol, try taking off the preview by clicking on the scene and unticking enable preview

I updated them yesterday i think, either that or the day before.

Monitor capture works fine, however the game doesn't have a windowed borderless mode and even with the software to remove it(can't remember the name) i can't get the border to screw off. Fullscreen is just a back screen when trying to monitor capture.

at the moment i've settled for recording it with shadowplay and audacity...but i do miss having the camera in there
