Recording / Streaming colors are too dark

Sup all,
Straight to the point? I gotcha!

I wish my color were brighter just as the image below,
Instead there are way too dark for me and I wish to change that somehow
If it's possible to do this while recording it would be perfect, if not, I would be glad to hear other solutions

You can see there's no enchancments in the video player aswell

Small note is I noticed a different threads discussing this subject but talking separately between Recording & Streaming, If you could summarize both options here it would be perfect.

Thanks

In the Settings screenshot in your first post, change the Color Range to Limited.

That exists because of analog TV broadcasts. Nothing is ever equal in analog, so they overdrove it slightly to make sure that white and black, at least, are displayed as intended. When those signals are digitized, to play back on the same analog gear, it's important that the digital scale include the overdrive. Thus, the Limited color range, in the sense that the display device can only handle a limited amount of what can be encoded.

Full, as you might imagine, implies that only 0% is actually black and only 100% is actually white. Anything even slightly off of that is displayed differently.

Mismatching that setting will result in the colors and brightness being slightly "off".

I noticed I have the same issue - my streams show up much darker than what I actually see on OBS. However, my settings are already set to limited. I know this isnt an issue with my capture device as its not just my game play showing up dark but my camera as well.

Try the other setting. *You* might need it to be the other way.

Settings exist to be changed for various reasons. If it should always be <this>, then it wouldn't be a setting.

I will try the other setting, but may I ask why, given the original explanation, that I would need the other setting? I understand settings exist to be changed, but if I comprehended what you said correctly wouldn’t switching it to the other just exacerbate the problem? Or am I just stupid?

If you're perfectly centered in brightness, it would only saturate or desaturate slightly, depending on which direction the mismatch is. If you're brighter or dimmer than 50% on average, then the mismatch will also change that average and make you brighter or dimmer overall. Again, which direction that is, depends on which side of 50% you're on, and which direction the mismatch is.

I appreciate you but I honestly don’t know how to fix it because before my stream was showing very dark - I didn’t touch the settings at all - and then my next stream was showing normal. Why did it go dark and then get better without me changing any settings yet? I can’t say. I’m just gonna leave it be for now, but thank you for the help.
