I had a problem with pixelation when recording videos in OBS so i upped quality balance to 10, raised max bitrate to 20,000 and lowered buffer size to 0 [EDIT:] and it still didnt work and now im not sure if you would call it framerate lag but the framerate drops in the recorded video when i play it. how can i fix this?

Keep in mind i dont plan to stream, just record.

tried a bunch of different crf=X #'s and pixelation came back with the framerate issues too at bittrate set to 1000 with custom buffer size set to 0.

EDIT: Just recorded another video and theres still pixelation with the settings in my first post.

i fixed it. i just raised x264 CPU Preset from superfast to ultrafast. theres still very slight framerate drops but im guessing thats either internet lag, my video card, because im recording at 30 fps or a combination of some or all of those things. in any case, recording for me is not a problem at all anymore as my videos are very near perfect. thank you guys, as always your help is greatly appreciated. :)

Well, the superfast preset is really "bad".

Why aren't you using the veryfast? It encodes much better than the super- or ultrafast for only a relatively small extra performance.

presets dont matter with local recording. When using buffer of 0 it will just have a larger filesize to compensate for the superfast preset.
