Thank you very much, this is the board
MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WIFI

and the rest of my equipment
Intel Core i5 13600KF 3.5 GHz 44MB
Kingston 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000MHz CL36 FURY Beast
WD Black SN850X 1TB Gen 4
ASUS GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB ProArt OC

The example video ain't mine though, that is the smoothness and quality I would like to achieve

Thank you for checking and clearifying that.

That setting was enabled from start and then i changed to disabled because I misunderstood you at first.

But this should be enabled, and then it shouldn't route the audio?

Should i also disconnect Razor headset and do a test? Will do this as soon as I get the chance if so

Yes enabled & set it as your Desktop Audio source in OBS.

Yep, the Razor should be removed while testing the on-board audio.

I have tried now, with realtek as digital output, headset turned off and the bluetooth dongle disconnected. It is still very stuttery, i don't get it. A ton of people upload their clips to reddit etcetera and it looks smooth. I did one recording on 60fps and one on 120fps.

120hz refreshrate ingame - done it in windows also with no difference
vertical sync enabled ingame - also done in windows without difference

1080p60 - had a max audio critical warning on this one
1080p120

Your main monitor is still running @ 144 in both logs, should be 120 or better yet 60. I would also run OBS @ 60FPS for now as well.

Not sure why you're making those changes in-game....

I have done them both in windows settings, nvc and ingame.

Nvc would be the best option?

The monitor refresh rate is set in Windows & yes the Nvidia Control panel for the other settings.

The audio lag in the log appeared to be from the mic not starting immediately but if you notice the on-board audio continuing to lag, the driver may need to be updated. MSI released a new audio driver on 12/25/23.

I now have my new 240hz monitor installed, selected refresh rate in windows and vertical sync in nvc.

It's much smoother now, and that is at 60 fps. Just some screentearing, any recommendations?

Cool, sounds like you're getting closer. There should be no screen tearing with v-sysc fast. Look at my 1st post, duplicate those settings in the Nvidia Control panel.

I'll need a new log since there has been a hardware change.

Your recording will look even better with the 2nd monitor @ 120HZ. Killing v-sync with it @ 144.....

Okey, how/why does it affect the recording monitor? Just curiosity.

I need to thank you again for all the help you've done.

It feels like I got something to work with now!

YW!

v-sync really works best when all monitors are operating at the same refresh rate.

In my testing, having a monitor set @ 144 anywhere in the mix induced stuttering but I can run my system fine @ 240/120. It may also be contributing to the tearing you're experiencing.

Now I'm happy with the outcome, this is after obs and editing software.

Gameplay recorded in 25% speed, 120fps in obs, frame blending and 60fps rendered from editing software.

I'm not sure if 1080p is available at the moment this is posted.
