Question / Help Recording freezes.

I wanted to do some recording in OBS so I went around my game for an hour or so capturing various gameplay elements (around 20 seconds each) only to realize afterwards that half the files are corrupt and the others are around 3 seconds long and are either a freeze frame or 2 seconds of gameplay then freeze frame. About half of the non corrupt videos had sound.

Here is my log:

(Too long for this post)

I then tried again after watching a setup tutorial and copying the settings but that made the problem even worse.

Your settings are too high for your CPU, specifically the resolution. Downscale until you get smooth video.

Notebook processors often are very weak in terms of raw encoding performance, especially the ones that don't have hyperthreading and a low clock speed, like yours. I suggest you try a resolution of 960x540 and stream at 30 FPS. If the video samples still show freezing/stuttering, go even lower to something like 480p. Also, the higher bitrate you use, the more cpu taxing it will be. I see that you stream at 15000 bitrate. For local recording, you could try something like 4000-5000 bitrate instead, I mean, @ 1080p 30 fps, you won't even notice a quality difference compared to 15000 bitrate.

Remember that for streaming, you can't stream higher than 3500 bitrate, like stated in the Terms of Service. If you cross this limit, you will get (ip) banned for DoS
