I'm having the same encoder error after about 10 mins into recording a video and have no clue how to fix it it's driving me crazy

note: I record in Mkv and have disabled all game captures except one but still keeps happening

I was having an issue with recording and it was popping up as "Recording error: An encoder error occurred while recording"

But in actuality I hadn't given OBS the correct permissions in Windows Defender and it was blocking obs-ffmpeg-mux.exe from writing to disk. Once I allowed it those rights it worked fine for me

Check your security settings is all I'm saying.

I just downloaded and tried using OBS. I get the message "An encoder error occurred during recording" as soon as I click Start Recording. My log file is attached.
