Question / Help Recording browser windows: blurry

Hello guys :)

I'm new to this kind of software and I like to record some stuff in my browser, which is mostly text. :)

I tried now a few settings, but I did not get a satisfactory result, the text always looks a bit blurry. Streaming is not planned, I just want to record a nice .mp4, .mkv, what ever file to my local machine for editing in e.g. Adobe Premiere Elements

Example Screenshot: https://cloud.crizzo.de/index.php/s/8VTtR0hriGDryGg

Example video: https://cloud.crizzo.de/index.php/s/QaKWdVHseUsT8Dp

Settings: https://cloud.crizzo.de/index.php/s/UNn4niFTC0vX54M

MyLog-File: https://gist.github.com/4b9f7983e61e062f63b38f487cef959f

I've already tried something like this: https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/obs-classic-how-to-make-high-quality-local-recordings.16/ But most settings are simple not there.

Any ideas?

Hey,

thx for your answer.

I tried the "simple lossless" setting with 2500 bitrate, x264 and audio bitrate 192.

But this was the output: https://cloud.crizzo.de/index.php/s/i3toj5ak9leCglR :(

In addition a tried the AMD VCE encoder with those settings listed there and the x264 ones. But a few fields stay unchanged. Was better than the "losless"-thing, but still not really good.

The video bitrate on Simple mode is for streaming, not recording. Do you need to downscale your recording to 720p? If not, change your output resolution to be the same as your base resolution. If you do, the Lanczos downscaling filter might provide you with slightly sharper results.

Beyond that, give us a log which contains a recording attempt and we can see what else might be going on.

Also, the screenshot you posted is a bit of a strange resolution. Is that your actual video res?

Hi,

the screenshot was just a snipping tool move of a bit of text in a browser or the video. Just so grab some text. The display resolution is 1920x1080 pixel.

I just changed the video file to base and output to: 1920x1080. The log file, hopefully the correct one: https://gist.github.com/a9f65bd8057cfea10e799d17d55f3bed

Recorded again a lossless file, looks way better. But the font should be more sharp: https://cloud.crizzo.de/index.php/s/yvcoXcfnj42CaHm

Screenshot with windows from the same mail-text: https://cloud.crizzo.de/index.php/s/3kgaZnIpUt3zY5Q This is how it should look alike. :)

Regards

According to the log your output resolution is still set to 1280x720. Beyond that I don't know what else to suggest other than to keep playing with the settings, and try the simple mode "indistinguishable" just as a sanity check. Also bear in mind that even "lossless" can cause a small amount of colour smearing because of the way colours are encoded in the output. Which is about where my knowledge runs out.
