This has been an ongoing issue for me (several years now). My recordings contain stuttering that is NOT present in-game, and just generally do not look smooth.
Here is the log file from a 4-minute test recording I did: https://obsproject.com/logs/DicxKnK7mBgRsyjA
My settings:
1080p 60fps
MPEG-4, NVIDIA NVENC H264 (I have a GTX 1080)
Constant QP 20
Keyframe interval - 1s
Preset - P1
Tuning - High Quality
Multipass Mode - Single Pass
Profile - High
Look-ahead & Adaptive Quantization - OFF
B-Frames - 2
(Changing these settings seems to have no effect on the amount of stuttering)
The log says I had 25 lagged frames. Consistently across every recording I get around 20-30 lagged frames, I believe at the beginning right after I click "record", most likely from game capture hooking into the game. It is NOT enough lagged frames to justify how my recordings look. On longer recordings I will have the same amount of lagged frames, so the lagged frames are not occurring throughout.
Things I'm doing/I've tried so far:
I'm running OBS as admin
I close all background programs when recording
I've tried disabling the preview
I created a whole new scene with only the bare essentials, no extra browser sources or anything
Some things I haven't tried yet:
Updating GPU drivers (this hasn't helped in the past but maybe it will now)
Setting my monitor refresh rate to 60 rather than 144, to match the 60fps recording (would rather not do this as it would introduce input lag)
If anyone has any additional ideas, please let me know. I'm at a dead end.
