Hey guys,
i noticed that the elgato recording with obs dont looks that good like with the elgato capture software. i think the only problem is the sharpness. so is there an option that i can change the sharpness of the elgato in obs?

you really need to post a logfile from OBS with recording or streaming from the elgato.

Maybe important information: Normal PC stuff looks great. i have no problems with recording or streaming. my problem is just that obs doesnt capture the elgato with the same sharpness like the elgato software. btw i have these settings from a post here. i prefer for other settings. but with every settings i tested the elgato havent the same quality in obs like elgato software.

Yeah, it would look better if you set the capture card at 1080p @60 then set the base res in the video tab of OBS to 1080 then downscale to 720

When you downscale like I said, you bicubic filter.

ok i tried the bicubic filter, but my first test capture with downscaling and lancos filter was a little bit better. but its not that sharp like the elgato softrware.

bicubic will look sharper, lanzcos will typically look smoother, almost a dithered look to it.

i usually dont use downscaling because i think it has no effect because the elgato is 720. dping said i should test it. but also without downscaling it looks not so sharp like in the elgato software. so is there a way to improve the picture quality of elgato in obs that it looks sharp like in the elgato softwares capture?

dping maybe you should know that the source device(for this example my ps4) is set to 720p because i have the old elgato and the old elgato can only stream 60 fps when the resolution is 720p.

Maybe helpful information: i use an old elgato software i think it was 2.01.56. because there is a bug with newer elgato software and obs. everytime mostly when the game have load screens, the elgato skip frames.

Skipped frames isn't his issue. I wasn't aware of frame skipping being your issue.

Read correctly. frame skipping is the reason why i dont want to update my elgato software! and i dont even know weither the update will fix that sharpness issue from obs. so maybe somebody can tell me if the newest elgato software has fixed the frame skipping and maybe fixed the sharpness in obs?

So, the sharpness thing I don't see as a bug, its simply how you have everything configured.

What you should do:
Set the OBS base resolution to 720p
No downscale
Make sure the Game Capture HD is set to output at 720p, and that the input source is 720p

Thats pretty much it. It should be just as sharp in the OBS preview as in the Elgato Game Capture software.

I do also recommend updating to the latest 3.0 software, as it includes sync and delay fixes.

It seems you dont undersand. I repeat: i use the old elgato software because with newer and with the newest(i tested it few minutes ago) elgato software you get only in obs frame skipping.(elgato software works fine) here is a long thread about this problem. https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/elgato-hd60-audio-and-video-skipping.28781/
For me no problem, old elgato software works fine for me so i use the old elgato software until this problem is solved.

but my problem was that obs doesnt record the elgato sharp enough. i solved this by myself now. it was the colour saturation. of you set this up you maybe get a little bit better colour but the sharpness suffers because this option. so i set it to 0 and the picture was sharp enough i think.
