Hi everyone,
So I haven't seen much of anything on here about seemingly random drops. I have read countless threads about dropped frames and the like, but a complete stream drop doesn't seem to be a regular problem I guess. This only seems to happen as I play games off of my computer; if I use my Elgato for console games the stream stays just fine. However, when playing a game like Smite, for example it drops stream all the time. When analyzing stream logs from the dropped stream I get nothing. It states no major or minor problems found. For the sake of a quick response and hopefully solution my specs are as follows.
Windows 8.1 operating system
Upload-6k (6000mbs) hardwired into my modem
processor- Intel Core i7 i7-4700HQ 2.40 GHz (overclocked to 3.4 GHz)
GPU- Invidia GTX 660 2Gb--- (due for an upgrade for sure)
DDR3 Ram- 8Gb-- (also due for an upgrade yea?)
from the Pc i use the game capture option, I have also tried screen and monitor capture to see if that would make a difference, it does not.
(if anymore info is needed let me know and I will try to post it ASAP)
I have tried lowering bit rates, from what the recommended settings page on the OBS site has stated from 3500mbs all the way down to 1000mbs and it will still drop the stream. Also I downscale from 1080p to 720p and while running the game, OBS, itunes and a few other small stream related applications I am only using at the worst of times 55% of my processor power. I also use the closest server to me which is the New York, east server. I have used both the 32 bit and 64 bit version to see if it was me just using the wrong one for my operating software and both manage to drop the stream.
I am stumped, I really like OBS as a platform, when streaming off of all my consoles i have no problems. It should be noted that I have tried using other programs like x-split and that has worked for some reason, but I really don't like the rigidity of the program and would much rather use OBS and its open source, easy customization set-up. Any help or recommendations would be helpful.
