I use OBS to both stream as well as to record video.
As of update v0.584b, OBS now creates random black borders around recorded videos, and it also zooms in the entire picture so that, even without the borders, I still wouldn't get the full image.
The size of the border changes at random. I am downscaling the image from 1080p to 720p. Every minute or so, the size of the border changes from maybe only 50 pixels to as many as 300 pixels, although the zoom seems to stay about the same; I'd estimate that the zoom is only 10% or so.
Please bear in mind that I do not experience this problem while streaming. I'm using the same scenes for each profile, and the profile I have for streaming is called "720p broadcast", while the profile for recording is called "720p recording". The scene composition is obviously unchanged, and the only difference between the profiles is that the "broadcast" profile streams to my Twitch channel, whereas the "recording" profile only records a local .mp4 file.
So, the obvious test was to modify one of the profiles so that it both streamed and recorded a local file at the same time. The results were the same--the streamed image looked just fine, no borders, no zooming; the recorded local file exhibits the same problems I described above.
In the event that there was some weird parameter that somehow worked its way into the "recording" profile settings, I created a new 720p recording profile as a test, and I also created a profile to record at 1080p as well. The problem still persists in both of these profiles.
Unfortunately, as of this writing, I have not yet had the time to download an older version to see if this fixes the problem. I only know that it started happening when I accepted the latest automatic update.
** EDIT #2 ** Reverted to 583b, this has fixed the issue. I have to assume it is a bug with the latest version.
