I get this error as well as OBS closing anywhere from 10 mins to an hour after I start streaming. Have seen a couple other thread on the topic but nothing conclusive. Has anyone found a workaround or anything? I love quicksync otherwise.

As koala noted in this thread (3rd post down):

https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/error-qsvhelper-exe-was-killed-encode-failed.19749/#post-102515

it may be a driver issue. Like koala, I noticed my problem start when I updated my Intel graphics driver to the latest version. koala used system restore to rollback to an older driver version. I used a different method. I went to the drivers section of the ASUS site for my motherboard and found they still have the older version. I used Control Panel to uninstall the new driver, then went to Device Manager and removed the device itself. After rebooting my machine, I installed the driver I downloaded from the ASUS site and it started working again.

See if you can find a version for your specific motherboard on the manufacturer's site. Or maybe an older version on the Intel site.
