Hi D2ultima

Here is what I see clicking on Manual Tuning (see image uploaded). I don't have the All controls option and everything is in grey.

That being said, I have some good news ! Tonight, I did like 7 hours of streaming and my fps was almost always 60 ! This is awesome as I could even afford to have more applications opened and many websites tabs on chrome ! While before I was closing everything, even sometimes the Lol Client to try to relax the CPU. Thought I noticed that doing a small break of 5min between every game increases performance (the CPU temperature drops even more quickly thanks to the coolpad!) It's all good since I can answer viewers question every 5minutes.

Concerning the Thermal Throttling, mmmm, it's still there but less intense that yesterday. For example, yesterday the processor frequency was going down to 1.6 Ghz, while tonight, it was more like 1.9-2.0 Ghz. Ofc, it's still lower than the base frequency which is 2.40 Ghz, and even worse than the theoretical turbo boost of 3Ghz per core. The CPU temperature is still very high .especially at the end of the 7hours of streaming, it was close to 95 degrees Celsius.

As you adviced, I think I'm gonna keep the coolpad. Speaking of the coolpad, I hope I'm positioning it well relatively to the laptop.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can afford another 39€ to clean the fans of my laptop. I already spent 49€ buying additional RAM, then 25€ for a powerfull coolpad, that makes a total of 74€. Paying another 39€ and we will reach 113€ that's really too much (i'm still a student!)

That being said, I'm ready to try to clean it myself since it's cheaper :D.
Do you think I can manage to do this alone or is it really risky? I mean, I could just help to clean a bit the fans without doing the perfect clean you know (and the specific material). Maybe just a little bit of clean will already greatly improve the cooling.

I live in Paris and services are costy :(

Well, you could clean it yourself. Just look for a tutorial on youtube or a service manual and use some canned air to blow out the dust, but I have no idea where you're getting the canned air or thermal paste to replace with. That WILL cost some. Good luck.

Hey D2ultima ! Hope you're doing well

I finally gave my laptop and they cleaned everything for me. I did insist that I needed a good thermal paste for gaming, like 10 times.

Now I did a first test, playing on Counter Strike with medium setting (+ coolpad on).
Well, that's just awesome. My old fps was between 25 and 60, now it was more like between 60-120. I still can't believe it. As for the monitoring test on Intel XTU, no Thermal Throttling ! The temperature of the CPU after some 45minutes was between 85 and 91 (compared to previously when the temp was already at 95 within 20minutes). That being said, 91 is kinda close to 95 and I don't know what is the exact CPU's temperature at wish the Thermal Throttling starts (i guess it's around 95). Processor frequency was stable at 2.4 Ghz all time (it goes to 2.6 Ghz every time I use alt tab back and enter the game).

I'm just too happy and I think I can't thank you enough ! I was kinda sad because I really thought that I needed to buy a more expensive powerful computer to stream!

Maybe the final point I really want to understand is why my processor frequency is stuck at 2.4 Ghz while in game. Where is the turbo boost? Did you check the image I uploaded in last post? I don't have the all controlls option like you !

Thanks a lot man for this final help :)

your temp is still very high, and will throttle when streaming more than likely.

You have a locked BIOS and will not be able to access enabling/disabling turbo boost.

It is likely that your CPU is running out of power and is sitting at 2.4GHz instead of 3GHz, as you say it clocks up when you alt tab (game doesn't use CPU as much)

You should get another computer to stream still.

Even overclocked, I make sure that ~91 is my highest temp WHILE streaming. While gaming it's well below 80 degrees, and even moreso if I leave it at stock speeds instead of overclocking it.

Hey D2ultima.

It is more than okay, I'm streaming League of Legends only which is far from requiring as much ressource as counter strike.
I streamed for over 8 hours, the CPU temperature was around 80 degree celsius (max 83), the fps in game was perma 60 (never dropped like not even 59 XD). There was not a single Thermal Throttling (constantly 0%, not even 0.01 :) ) during the eight hours while yesterday with the cool pad it was like 45-50% of Thermal Throttling. Many applications were open, I was even capable of enabling songrequest and youtube video being played in chrome, something I could never dream of before. All of that and still a very stable 60 fps.

I really don't think that I need another computer to stream League of Legends. Of course, if I decide one day to stream CS GO, it won't be the case :)

That being said, I was wondering why intel XTU doesn't show the number of threads. Can we see this anywhere?

Thx again !
