Question / Help Question regarding 720p downscale quality.

Hello,

I was wondering why my 720p @ 60fps image quality looks so bad. When I have seen other streams with 720p, it looks WAY better than mine for some reason.

Here is the current settings I use in OBS:

Quality: 9
Bitrate/Buffer: 3600

Base resolution is set to my native 1920x1080
Downscale: 1.50 (1280x720)
FPS: 60

Using multithread optimization, process priority at "normal"
x264 CPU preset: faster (tried with veryfast as well, same results).

You can all see the quality here: http://www.twitch.tv/kimgtv/c/1813494 (the stuttering ingame is not because of dropped frames, the game just lagged because someone had shitty intarwebs)

No frames were dropped during this session.

If you need more info, please ask!

Thanks,

KimG

Hmm. ok :Pto me it looks a little too blurry'ish. I have seen 720p streams that look sharper.
It might be a matter of taste, but I prefer the smoothness of OBS' downscale function. If you want a sharper picture, at your own risk you can set your base resolution to 1280x720 directly without downscale, and use "Fit to screen" on your software capture. Personally I don't like the aliasing you get then, but it's undoubtedly sharper.

I think the thing your seeing compared to other streams is the darkness of the stream, you might have some video card settings that are actually have lower brightness settings then say, your monitor is setup for, i'd start looking at the brightness settings.
