Question / Help Question about Live Gamer HD delay

Hey guys,

I've got a quick question. I recently got an AVerMedia Live Gamer HD. I've noticed some people saying here and there that this card had almost zero latency. I'm not getting quite the same results.

I've done several measurements where I would record a short video in 30 FPS. I made a small HTML file which makes a small black block appear for a short while once you press a button. I would capture the LGHD's output with a video capture source, and I would capture the window using a window source. Then I'd open up the video file in Lightworks and see how many frames behind the LGHD is.

My measurements show that the LGHD is consistently 3 frames behind (when recorded via avideo capture source). Interestingly this delay decreases to 2 frames when I set the LGHD to 60 FPS in the video capture source. That means that the device features a delay of 100 ms when the device is set to 30 FPS, and apparently it's 67 ms when set to 60 FPS.

I've seen people talk about a 1-2 ms latency, but my measurements would suggest these statements are really off. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this correct?

I am fine with this delay, by the way. I can work with it just fine. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something.

EDIT:

I noticed that when setting up the video capture source to capture at 60 FPS (a setting separate from OBS' streaming framerate) the delay seems to be smaller. When also setting OBS' framerate to 60 the delay has decreased to 2 frames, or about 33 ms. Interesting.
