I keep finding thread for this issue on multiple sites but no one seems to know the answer. The one thread i found on here from the obs dev basically said "i didn't develop that part of the program and I know nothing about quick sync, sorry"

So is there seriously no way around this? Is anyone at least looking into it. Quick sync is amazing for performance and should be a feature that gets/needs attention. Can't believe everyone is simply ignoring this problem with an "oh well use a different encoder" attitude. It's frustrating.

From past experience and other posts, this issue only happens on CERTAIN (although a huge majority) of Windows 7 PC's. Upgrade to 8.1 and it'll the whole thing will be smooth.

So there's no fix what so ever for Windows7? I'm forced to buy a new os? I loath Windows 8

Well, most people would use a pirated version :D - But that's illegal, so it's up to you.

I personally preferred Windows 7 as well in almost every aspect. It has advantages to me that Windows 8.1 doesn't. The only thing I've come to like about 8.1 is the look/DWM feel, as well as the ability to customize your User Libraries (i.e documents, downloads, music, etc.) directories to another location.

Unfortunately I have not found a fix for Windows 7, but I'm sure there is one. I've tried upgrading service packs, installing certain Windows updates, etc. Apparently pre-september drivers have a higher chance of success on Windows 7, but that doesn't work for everyone.

Extra: Honestly though, you can customize Windows 8.1 enough to make it feel like Windows 7, except with slightly shinier/more transparent task bars. I use Start8 and disable ALL the hot corners and that pretty much pulled me through all the 8.1 hate.

Its simply the devs must fix this bug but its looks like OBS is no longer supported and developed.

My obs just updated yesterday actually, I have yet to get home and test quick sync with it but at least it looks as if the devs are still supporting it, they just haven't addressed or even acknowledged this problem yet. The changelog makes no mention of it at all.

However the weird window capture problem that started after enabling quick sync is still there no matter what encoder I use now. x264 is forever ruined after enabling quick sync :(

There is nothing we can do to fix this, the drivers are simply not working. Intel are the ones dropping support for Windows 7 as Quicksync works a lot more reliably in Windows 8.

I'm assuming you mean the QVhelper bug you can do nothing about? What about the window capture bug. I can confirm it is an obs issue and not quick sync as it exist anytime multiple monitors are used from multiple sources (be them real or virtual) once I switch my resolution back to one monitor from a single source I get window capture back. But use more than more monitor now and window capture no longer works. This happens even with quick sync disabled entirely within bios

I started tweaking the encoder to use the NVENC encoder n my 770. Similar performance boost and less pixilation. Quick Sync is just flat out broken with OBS don't use it

and FYI its not a driver issue with quick sync, that's a cop out dev response. Quick sync works fine with other software for encoding only with obs is the quality pixilated and the helper bug present

I run a computer with AMD Radeon HD 6870 and Intel HD Graphics 4000 and i7 3770.
I recently discovered Intel Quick Sync encoding on my i7 CPU and have run it successfully.

BIOS onboard graphics must be set to manually enabled (don't leave it at Auto nor Disabled).
Screen Resolution need the Detect button clicked to discover the new adapter.
Have that adapter configured to 'Display device on: VGA'.

The next part is to have the system 'Show display only on 1' (the AMD GPU).
I don't use two displays. This keeps OBS and the software you want to capture on the one adapter and therefore on one monitor.

https://gist.github.com/anonymous/a0b56ad0ead43bef34f1
I interpret the above as OBS running on one adapter and the other software running on another adapter with the result that OBS can't see the other software to capture.

Changing from 'Extend these displays' keeps the second Intel adapter (with no monitor) available and OBS and what it needs to capture on the one (AMD powered) monitor.

If this doesn't work please let me know. It did work for me though.
