Question / Help Q : Automatic Scene Switch by timer

Hello! Is it possible to switch a scene automatically by a timer?

For example i want to run ads, but end of the ad it should return to the other scene. Or i want a countdown, when my stream starts and change to another scene when the countdown ends?

Nope. Not with OBS.

You might be able to put something together with an Autohotkey script though, and setting scene switch hotkeys in OBS that AHK triggers. It's a kludge, but it could be a viable workaround. Beyond OBS support's scope though.

Well, OBS does have plugin capability, but there's no comprehensive API for all of the calls. There's a rudimentary one up on Git (https://github.com/jp9000/OBS/wiki/OBS-Plugin-API-Documentation), but to get all of it, you apparently just need to read through the OBS source.

So... maybe? But no OBS plugins for it at the moment, far as I'm aware, no.

By the way, what about the obs studio? I just see it's released a few days ago.

Still no auto-switch in Studio. Studio is the rewrite branch. It's usable, but missing features and a lot of workflow/polish from the Classic version at the moment.
