Question / Help PS4 /w elgato game capture HD physical setup help!

Hi,

I am looking to set up my PS4 through my elgato game capture card but having trouble figuring out the best way to do it.

The PS4 is currently going into the elgato game capture, no problems there the stream is coming through to the pc fine. Now my monitor only has dvi in, so I have a hdmi to dvi cable going from the elgato to the monitor. So far so good. I can stream audio and video through to twitch no problem but the difficulty is getting the sound through to my ears.

I can plug my logtech g930s into the ps4 and output all audio to headphones, but then the stream isnt getting audio as its not going through the hdmi any more (to elgato). Have any of you guys got a solution to this? My only thought of a solution was to get a sound card for the pc with a digital audio in jack and play the audio through pc, to my headphones (plugged into pc) and through additional sound source in OBS.

you have to somehow get the headphones from the monitor/television, or split the signal, or perhaps there's some setting in PS4 settings that will allow you to output to both HDMI and headphone output, I'm not entirely sure, but people have to deal with that problem somewhat often. You can't really listen to it in the PC. The audio will be delayed because it's not the pass-through of the device.

Hi Jim,

DO you know if I would I be able to go optical cable from ps4 to a sound card such as this: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/creative-sound-blaster-b-x-fi-xtreme-audio-pci-express-new-version and then just listen to the input through pc?

Not sure. Anyway, it's a difficult situation. It's pretty much up to you to figure out how best to deal with it. I unfortunately don't always have all the answers.
