Question / Help Problems with Game Capture

Hey,

I've been trying to get Game Capture working. I have a laptop with two graphic cards and I believe this is the issue.

When I use my integrated graphics, everything is fine, just Game Capture isn't working. It's flickering between black and the actual game. I've tried deactivating Aero, different resolutions, vsync turned on and off...

When I use my Nvidia graphics, Game Capture works perfectly fine. The problem is that text sources don't show anymore. I can still see the red rectangle when I click on 'Edit Scence', but I can't see the text.

I compared my settings to a friend of mine whose Game Capture is working, so that shouldn't be the problem.

Please help me!
 
Both OBS and the game you are capturing have to be using the nVidia card for it to work.
 
Both OBS and the game are running on the Nvidia card and like I wrote above, it is working that way. It's just that all text overlays disappeared.
 
the text overlays probably require the other GPU or something.. argh, these multi-gpu laptops..
 
An idea for a workaround: Have you tried creating a PNG with the text, and using that as an image source? I did this back when I couldn't find the text source option in OBS :P.
 
I mainly need the text overlays for my music, so an image doesn't really work for that.

Do you think it might work if I set my nvidia card to my main card and have all programs run on it? I actually don't wanna do that since it uses more energy.
 
If you intend to stream, you will run at a close to max consumption anyway. Can you set up multiple profiles for streaming and not streaming?
 
Hey guys,
sorry for not answering for a while.

I installed the new patch and thought I'd give it another try, set my laptop's global settings to the Nvidia card (so it runs everything on that) and tried it - Game Capture works, text doesn't.

Do you have any clue what I could do?
 
This is going to sound insane, but what about using inner window capture on the text file while open in notepad and then use a combination of sub-region+chroma key filtering?
 
This is very creative :D

The issue is that screen capture isn't working either (Else I'd be capturing iTunes). I can only use Game Capture, my webcam and images.

I'd much rather have a fix for the actual issue :/
 
I believe I can make a fix for the text thing, I'll attempt to fix it in an upcoming test version
