Question / Help Problems setting up MXL Studio 24 USB Microphone for OBS

See Title, but to be specific I'm having trouble getting the microphone and my game audio to be picked up in OBS, I did a recording and got no sound whatso ever - either from the game's inherent audio or my microphone's recording of my voice. I've gotten recordings to work with Windows Movie Maker when making narration recordings, and the sound still works for listening to said narration playbacks as well as other programs, like just listening to videos on Youtube.

There's probably something very stupid I'm missing, and I'm willing to have it pointed out to me if it means I can get back to recording for my channel with this new Mic. Assume I know nothing.

I have not tried VLC yet, but movie maker is showing the recording having nothing recorded for audio, so I don't know how much that would help. And would not be ideal for me anyway because I use moviemaker for editing. But I'll keep it in mind.

And when you say Audio Codec, is that a setting I need to tinker with in my computer or in OBS itself?

Windows movie maker is in the same class as windows media player.
Junk without supporting programs.

You set the audio format to AAC in the OBS settings.

Heh I know but it is free junk, and I'm kinda working on a budget. Believe me, in the future better hardware and software is my goal. But just working on establishing a fanbase first.

I'll see if that works. Might be a bit replying. I can only troubleshoot so much in one day before I get sick of it.

VLC is free, so are the codec packs to support every audio and video format that you can throw at the player. Windows Media Player and other crap that comes with Windows, is not only limited, but also doesnt really work even with supported stuff.
The mic is good, so it should work without any problems. Make sure its on 100% in Windows Mixer, disable boost and just test it, if you hear clipping - reduce the volume.

Where exactly is boost? And windows movie maker is fine for me, and it worked with this mic before for some recordings, if anything its OBS that isn't recognizing the microphone for some reason. Like, it is, but its not actually recording anything. Which is very frustrating, because aside from the lack of audio (admittedly a big problem) the recording I had to pitch came out great.

I really don't want to have to not use this microphone, when it worked it sounded fantastic. : (

Its not about VLC, the produced videofile should work with any mobile or software player that is supporting the format.
Doublecheck if you get the signal from the USB mic in OBS, its really easy...

Pretend I am completely brain dead - what exactly do you mean by check the signal. I have a feeling its something simple but I don't want to miss any details.

Erm. What do I show, exactly? I can record anything, there's just no audio. I'm sorry if I'm being difficult, but I'm more just confused and frustrated than anything else ;>.>

Eeeh just make screenshots or a short 30sec clip about what you see. And post a log from that 30sec clip...

That will tell us a) what device is set as an input and output, b) what the sound lvl is and c) what the fk is going on :-)

If you want, i can help you via TS3/Teamviewer/Skype, what you prefer. Got some free time, so feel free to message me for contact data.

Does OBS have a specific Logging system? And Its kind of hard to use a voip thing if the microphone isn't working ya know? ^.^. Could I maybe add you via steam? I'm always on that. I'm Michelozzo there too

Like i said if your mic is working then OBS will capture it. So WHAT is the problem here, you dont get any sounds from your mic recorded (with whatever software) or just OBS?
And yes, OBS saves logs from everything if done right.
