Question / Help Problem with accented and other characters

I use a Now Playing plugin to save the current song title to a txt file so I can import it into OBS.

I've noticed that a few songs that have special or accented characters do not display.

A few example:

chipzel - 4²
Approaching Nirvana - Cancún

When this song is playing OBS displays no text at all for the song titles. If I change the song titles to 4^2 and Cancun they work just fine.

At first I thought this was a problem with the plugin I use for winamp. I thought perhaps it since it uses a different encoding that it would be the problem. I created a new text file and just put chipzel's song in there. Again it failed.

If anyone could help me come up with a solution to this problem, I would be most grateful.

Make sure that the txt file that the song names are being saved to is in UTF-8 format. (Open the file, go to File > Save As, change encoding to UTF-8, and save).

Ahh.. Well I did seem to miss something then.

I changed the file to UTF-8 and saved it.. The characters finally showed up, so thank you for that.

it also seems I need a new Now Playing plugin. It doesn't offer UTF-8 encoding. Back to the drawing board.
