Bug Report Preview Stream = Crash

Hi. OBS is crashing every time I click "Preview Stream". I get nothing for a couple of seconds, then an all-black preview for about a second, then crash. OBS worked fine for me the last time I streamed several months ago, but that was with a different video capture device, and before a recent re-install of Windows.

I tried to include the minidump file as requested, but it didn't work. Turns out the file is about 1.2 MB, but the limit for "Upload a File" on this forum is 1MB. I don't know how hard it will be to diagnose my problem without it, but any ideas at all will be appreciated.

Check your capture device settings are correct.

Do you mean settings in OBS regarding the capture device? I went into Properties and the the only thing that looked like it might not be right (although I don't know what some of that stuff does) was the unchecked "Preserve Source Size" box. So I checked the box and tried again, now OBS doesn't crash but the source only shows up as a black box with a small line of mostly green pixels at the bottom. I don't know if there are any other OBS settings I should try changing, or what to change them to. More advice would be helpful.

Or do you mean settings for the capture device itself? I went into Device Manager and checked things out there, but everything seemed fine. Drivers are up to date, "device is working properly", etc.
