Bug Report Potential Stream Crash Fix & Webcam/USB Mic Lag/De-sync

Yeah im just assuming only people who can actually process 320bit audio from a sound card or something wont have the syncing issues. Im pretty sure its caused by my Headset since thats where the audio gets processed and not through the onboard audio chip on the PC. Reason why I cant wait to have an Analog Headset again so i dont have to worry about USB interference issues anymore.

Hey guys, so I have a weird problem that's similar to this.

I recorded a 30 minute video in Local Recording and at the start everything works well.

I have my USB Logitech microphone and my Microsoft HD camera working in sync and everything is fine.

On 16:03 of the video, a noticeable lapse happens, and after that, the camera is lagging behind. My screen and my voice is fine, but the camera lags behind.

Let me know of any additional information you need.

Alright so i tested a few things out, and it seems the syncing issues may be caused by the Audio Bitrate being too high, since i had 320 selected, i dropped it down to 192 and the syncing was gone. This was with Sync Fix unchecked.

Have you tried doing this?

I am still having this issue with OBS .449aTest4. My webcam will slowly fall behind so that when I talk, the audio is heard before the webcam. I am using a Logitech c920 with the greenscreen settings enabled. I have set my audio quality lower but it has not resolved the issue.

Here is an example video of the issue:
http://www.twitch.tv/talutha/b/345080154
0:00 - Perfectly in sync.
1 Hour in - You can start to tell it is becoming out of sync if you pay attention.
3 Hours In - Webcam is a full 1-2 seconds behind audio.

Here is a pastebin of my logs for that day. I have two labeled for the day of that video(12/3) and I'm not sure which one you need, I believe it is the second one as it has the later time stamp.

And just for safekeeping, here is my full DXDiag.

If you need anything else from me, please don't hesitate to ask!

I unfortunately still won't be able to fully fix this issue until the next major update. Next update is currently minor, but I'm still working on the major stuff. I have to rewrite a lot of the audio subsystem to hopefully fix the issue.

Am I the only one where the webcam comes in ahead of my audio? That seems to me to be a different problem them.

Actually I think it's still an audio thing regardless. I have to fix it up after I release this next patch.

Just as an update, with .452a, My Audio is now ahead of my webcam by 2 seconds. But it's not even synced up at the start. It's 2 seconds off from the get go. So to be certain, I talk, then 2 seconds later you see me talk.

Update: After checking a VOD, it appears all of my audio is out of sync. My desktop audio is also 2 seconds ahead of my desktop video. So I guess I need to check out the audio desync fix and see if that helps.

Yea, I'm actually working on an audio update at the moment.. Might have a fix for all the sync issues in general, but I haven't confirmed it will work or not yet

Xerouz, could you come by the chat some time? I need to test out some code on someone who has to use the "sync fix" option.

Or anyone who needs the sync fix.

Once I get back in town, I would love to stop by the chat. As it is, unfortunately, I'm going out of town tonight and wont' be back until Sunday.

As I said, until the most recent update, I had the opposite problem I'm having now. You'll see in my VODs I've already posted in this thread where my desktop AV is synced fine, but my webcam video is ahead of my Mic audio. This was with version 0.448a.

Now in this new VOD: http://www.twitch.tv/scxerouz/b/345901403 (version 0.452a) you can see from the get go that my audio is now a full 2 seconds or so ahead of all video (webcam and desktop). It's hard to tell, but game sounds are ahead too. I haven't tried the audio sync fix yet, as I didn't notice this problem until I looked at my VOD this morning.

I don't know if these VODs help at all with what you're doing. I'd love to be able to help you test it out, and if you still need me to stop by chat on Sunday, I surely will.

Nevermind, Xerouz. I got it. Tested it with multiple people and it worked properly.

I've now managed to fix just about all sync issues, I believe. No more need for the sync fix in advanced either. Wow, that one especially has been haunting me from the day I first wrote the software.

Yeah seems like the new build botched up the syncing issue again. Even with my suggestion to lower audio bitrate. Any idea when this new fix will roll out?

ASAP pretty much, couldn't say specifically because I'm rewriting a lot of the audio stuff, but definitely ASAP.

Getting the exact same issue. After a short time my audio and microphone go out of sync with the video, happens quite suddenly. Samson C01U microphone as well, with an i7 950 Bloomfield cpu.

http://www.twitch.tv/oshi7/b/347026013

Its fine at 12m but begins to go out of sync at 12m17s.

I'm almost finished with the fix to this. Hopefully I can release it today or tomorrow

So I've been trying out the local recording, and there are times where it fucks up mid way and times that it doesn't.

I have a 30 min video that I just recorded and the audio and camera jumps and syncs out 10:11.

On the other hand I managed to record a 24 minute video that works well all the way.

This is kinda frustrating... :(

Does the same happen with '0.454a test15' version? Have you checked the 'use sync fix' option? Does it only occur when writing to file, or when streaming too?
