I just received a new notebook and I'm currently running an i5 5300U @ 2.3 with 8 GB ram , Intel HD 5500 on Windows 8.1
I don't do any gaming hence why I didn't opt for a dedicated graphics card. I do however like to create local recordings from online streams (youtube, hulu, etc). On my previous system that was a i5 2430M with 6 gigs ram and a Geforce 540M 1gig on Win 7, I had no issues with local recordings using window capture and the default settings. Native resolution was at 1360x768.
On my new notebook I cannot seem to run OBS on both window capture or monitor capture for local recordings without running into the high cpu usage message and choppy recordings. The only way I can avoid this is with a big downscale or serious loss of quality recording. I'd like to at least run at 1.5 for 720P recordings (which I can't seem to do) or ideally at my native resolution of 1080P.
Are there any settings that you could recommend before I upload a log file? Based on my specs am I asking for too much?Considering these local recordings aren't complex gaming shouldn't I be able to maintain a decent frame rate or resolution?
I'm quite disappointed considering it's a new notebook with a a 5th gen processor and my old system that's four years old has no trouble running OBS. Could it be the lack of discrete graphics?
Any help would be much appreciated.
