Question / Help Please HELP! Extremely Choppy Video!

An OBS User :D

Hello everyone,

I'm new here, and I just got OBS yesterday. I was streaming Flight Simulator X, and in the game, it was fine - no lag - but when I watched my video, it was lagging like mad. At one point, it was stuck on the same frame for a minute! In that minute, the sound and stuff was perfect, except on the stuck picture/frame. Can anyone tell me all of the setting I need for my OBS?

Specs:

Windows 8.1
Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series
AMD A6
AMD Radeon R4 graphics 1.80 Ghz
8.00 gigs of RAM
64 bit operating system

Thanks!

Since that is a very weak CPU but there is a chance that your APU is compatible with the VCE build of OBS.

please read through the front page to get an idea of the requirements. On the last page (or second to last), I think I just recently assisted someone with the setup as well

What is the VCE build of OBS?

You can read about it here:
http://developer.amd.com/community/blog/2014/02/19/introducing-video-coding-engine-vce/

Do you know what settings I need for my OBS to work smoothly?

This all depends on a lot of factors, bitrate, ideal streaming resolution, and quality desired. I will tell you that without the build above, you will not obtain significant quality on any stream. I'm talking 480p@30fps max (maybe).

with VCE 720@60 and 1080@30 are possible but again, shouldn't be a starting point. you should start with something practical like 720@30 2500 bitrate.

where can I get vce obs? do I need the vce build of obs to make my videos look not choppy?
if you go back to the main page, there are now instructions there. I'm not going to spoon feed this to you, all the info is there, just read through.
jackun just updated the first link I sent you with proper instructions.

This should help with your setup. Once you have questions pertaining to the build or where you are stuck at, I help help more but show some effort not just saying "I need help!"
