Question / Help Play at 120hz and stream at 60fps with capture card?

Capture Card: Avermedia ExtremeCap U3

Monitor: BENQ XL2420Z 144hz via DVI (I play at 120 though)

PC Specs: ASUS P8P67 DELUXE, i7 2600k, GTX 780 SC ACX, 16 GB Corsair 1600mhz

I am looking to buy a machine just for streaming but it is not worth it if I can only play at 60fps, I get more frames than that on a single display :/

This is not possible unless you have a capture card that supports 120 hz. The sync has to match when using display cloning.

So there is no way round this? What would be the point of all these streamers using streaming machines and 120 hz monitors if they can only play at 60fps? I get about 90 playing BF4 while streaming with OBS on the same machine and even that is not enough frames for me :P

If the capture card acts like a monitor in windows, then you can duplicate your 120hz monitor to the capture card "monitor"
USB devices don't do that unfortunately, you would need a pci-e capture device.

I have my BENQ monitor plugged into my 780 via DVI, then my capture card plugged into the HDMI port of my 780. Then when I go into NVIDIA Control Panel and duplicate my main display onto my HDMI display (ExtremeCap U3), it immediately turns my BENQ to 60hz and greys out the option to change the refresh rate.

The thing I'm confused about is the fact that there are many, many streamers out there using capture cards to stream PC gameplay, and many of them have 120hz monitors. Does that mean they all are playing at 60hz whenever they stream? I just simply can not go back to 60 fps. The point of a capture card and a streaming PC is to reduce the load of the game to get better performance, so what's the point if you're capped at 60fps? There has to be a way to play @120 and stream @60. I won't take impossible as an answer :P

Also, when I do try to play at 60 FPS, I get massive screen tearing, which doesn't make much sense to me.
