Hi,
I've been streaming for over a month now and while I had no problem streaming low motions games recently (at 2000bitrate, 720p, 30fps), I just did some testing to stream a playthrough of Fallout 3. The problem is that, even with 3000 bitrate, the stream, and especially the facecam tends to pixelate a lot.
I know compression is going to do that and that we can't really go very high with the bitrate because of Twitch limitations but I've seen other streams with really clear cams while streaming at lower bitrate.
So maybe there is something set incorrectly in my parameters ?
If that helps, I also noticed that lowering the AA filtering and removing the HDR effect on the game slightly improved the pixelation. So could it have something to do with how the game runs on my PC ?
Here is the log of my last few tests (I didn't change much except the bitrate) : https://gist.github.com/anonymous/8c8dbcf44aef13a8c44c
(I was not live streaming but only locally recording, the pixelation appears in the local file as well).
My specs :
i7 3770 3.4Ghz
GT640 144 shaders (not really good but enough to play Fallout 3)
8Gb RAM
