Question / Help OpenAl Support

Hey guys, I like to use an OpenAl plugin for winamp, and some of my games use OpenAl for 3d hardware sound, which seems to mean that obs wont pick up either of them. Its kind of awful to switch to directsound2d on windows 7 especially for the games that have great 3d audio from back in the day. Any ideas?

The app doesn't pickup OpenAL sound? Seriously? Well, that's extremely annoying. I wonder why on earth that would be the case. Does OpenAL bypass windows' default mixer or something?

Thank you for notifying me of this

No, OBS definitely picks up OpenAL sound.

rastsy, if you have two sound cards, or if one of your USB devices has an onboard sound chip of some sort that Windows counts as a sound output source, make sure that you have OpenAL outputting sound to your default sound output device, since that is what OBS captures for desktop sound.

When I try to record sound from Hotline Miami Updated version OBS will not capture the games audio. Using the original version it works normally. I assume it's because the updated version uses OpenAL. I also notice windows volume mixer doesn't show that volume is going to the output device. It's definitely there though. Is it my creative drivers that's the problem?

Ok, definitely the way my X-fi is handling it. If i switch to realtek onboard then OBS will capture the game audio. OBS will not capture the game when outputting from my X-FI but I still can hear it through the X-FI output. Not sure what's happening
