Question / Help Open Broadcaster Being Finicky

Alright. So, I downloaded OBS to start doing more serious things with it, right? I go into settings to come across some very flexible options for encoding and stuff. I've looked up countless times for optimal settings but I keep getting nowhere when I either preview the stream or record -- it's either too pixilated or too laggy for me to work with. I've tried the option to use my video card, but it crashes every time I try to edit or fast forward the recording using my card. I want a sharp, clear image, but my setup can't seem to catch up...

Here are the specs...
ASUS M4A88T-M LE
8 GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 750 2GB Graphics Card
AMD 880G Chipset

If anyone can recommend an upgrade or some optimal settings I'm looking for, that'd be great.

Yep, WMP (and Movies & TV, which is just WMP) sucks on codec support. Completely.
VLC works much better, and actually supports a reasonable codec set.
