Question / Help One Shot for Web Cam Recording

Hello OBS Forums,

I need help when it comes to recording with a webcam-- I am trying to make videos for YouTube, but here is my issue with the webcam: If I preview the stream beforehand, or if I just launch the stream/broadcast, the webcam will record. The moment I stop them to review it or go live, it will no longer work! It is still in my sources menu and checked to be used, I can remove and re-add it, but it won't redisplay my webcam!

If I restart the software and re-launch it, everything is smooth sailing again until the moment I quit previewing/recording. I am not sure why it is doing this, but it is irritating to say the least! If anyone could help me out with this, that would be amazing! I want to start recording gameplay such as Amnesia, Outlast, Five Nights at Freddy's, as well as live streaming COD: Ghosts and Dota2 (and maybe Diablo3 or some other stuff,) but this feature is important and I want to make sure it actually records me as I stream, etc. after I preview it.

Thanks in advance!

First of all, (probably) unrelated to the problem, it appears that you're trying to use the program at 100 fps, 1080p. Change the FPS back to 60 or 30, as no one can probably even watch it at 100 anyway. If you do use 60, 720p is recommended for downscaling, though if you can handle it at 'ultrafast' preset for your recordings then I suppose that's fine, but I would not recommend 1080p 60fps otherwise.

Secondly, not sure about the webcam. There appears to be no error in the log file for it.

Hello Jim,

I am not planning on using this to stream much, which is why I have it on the settings that I do -- I attempted to load the program up today, and now it is working fine. I am not sure what the issue was, but it seems to have resolved itself.

If I experience any more issues, I will pass it along and let you know!
