Question / Help One Moment Please...

When I try to record my ps3 with my game capture HD on OBS Studio, it rarely works. most of the time, I get this "one moment please..." message that just stays there the whole time, without anything actually happening. other times, the video becomes pink/distorted, or the preview doesn't load at all.
I've asked on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/ElgatoGaming/comments/6n8ldz/one_moment_please/) even though I forgot to mention it only happens in OBS (woops), and I've emailed costumer support about it. We found out it only happens in OBS, but we couldn't fix the problem. I have no clue what's causing this, I've tried almost everything most people recommend. Please help. The log file is during the part of when it says "one moment please".

Did you adjust the configure video settings in the video capture device source properties?

The PS3 has HDCP on at all times, Elgato's software can/does get around that, but OBS doesn't.

Unless you put something to 'defeat' it inline (or use component out of the PS3 into your capture card), that's what you'll get.

Also please don't use the OpenGL renderer.

I used the special cable that comes with the game capture HD, it's component and shouldn't have this issue.

I'll change the renderer lol

In the screenshot you posted your elgato's resolution is set to 640x480. Is your PS3 set to the same resolution? If not, change one or the other so that they match.

oh yeah, now that I think about it, I set it to 1080i. Will it only work when I set it to HD 1080? if so, I've just wasted a lot of my time lol
I'll check when I get back from vacay in a week. I do remember it working after tampering with the quality setting, so that makes sense.

okay, so I was able to check just now, and apparently it was set to 1080 and still didn't work, but when I pressed reset settings in the configure menu, it started working somehow. weird. it also seems to work consistently too.

that's a huge relief, thanks to everyone in this thread for helping out.
