so firstly let me tell you what i am using .

my monitor only has DVI input so i use a HDMI to DVI cable (its all in the cable no box)
on the component input i only use the audio (red and white) for connecting to my headphones of which another part goes into the usb on front of ps3.
and my newly bought El Gato .

so as the ps3 has hdcp protection i need to bypass it right ?

so can i make it all work ?

because i use the DVI to HDMI cable , will that not work or something ?

if i used a HDMI splitter would i then be able to use and plug in my ps3 to the elgato just as i would a ps4 ?

i,m going to watch this topic all day so can reply immediately

If that splitter strips the HDCP signal, you can then use the Elgato. But sorry, thats all we can tell you to. Google is good to find information on this topic. Search for "hdcp stripper ps3" or something.
