Question / Help Odd audio doubling issue, can't figure out the cause.

Hey guys! I realize audio echo/ doubling is a common problem, but I did my best to search around and haven't been able to find any examples of someone experiencing the same issue.

What happens for me is that my audio starts off fine. I can go 3-5 minutes without any doubling on my voice. Then, without changing any settings, it'll suddenly kick in.

-I'm on windows 8.1
-I'm using a PS3 Eye webcam for video and audio.
-Under recording devices -> microphone properties, the "listen to this device" checkbox is not checked off, and I cannot hear myself through my headphones.

-In properties in OBS, the "output audio to stream only" option is selected.
-When twitch.tv is running, the audio is muted. I cannot hear myself through my headphones, and the webcam mic cannot possibly be picking up the audio from the environment, since it is completely silent in the room apart from me talking or mashing buttons on a gamepad.

I'm hoping there's some setting somewhere I missed that can fix this, but it seems odd that it works fine for a few minutes, and then suddenly changes. It's a consistent behavior as well, I can restart my stream on twitch, and the doubling will disappear completely for a few minutes, before reappearing again.

I suspect the PS3 Eye is to blame, and I'll likely invest in a proper headset anyways, but I'd love to get this working for the time being. Any ideas or advice?

Do you watch your stream while playing? Also, if you're using speakers and your webcam has a mic, you will get echoing, because whatever you say into your mic. will repeat itself through your speakers and the webcam will pick it up again. You will need a headset so this doesn't happen.

I do have my stream open, but the sound is always muted. I'm also using headphones, the audio in the room is silent so the webcam mic cannot be picking up a repeat of the audio.

Check your settings in your webcam, by click the webcam/video capture device and make sure the audio from the mic is 'disabled' You are getting a double audio feed from somewhere...Also, in your Windows audio setting, in the recording section, make sure you webcam mic. is also disabled.
