OBS Won't Recogise Camera (SONY HANDYCAM HI-8)

Hi all,

Thank you so much for your support.

I'm having some trouble getting my analog footage onto my Macbook. Some technical information first: I have a 2015 Macbook air and it is updated to the latest Big-Sur, so I have downloaded the appropriate eversion of OBS. The camera is a 90s Sony Hand Camera, it's a HI8 device.

When I plug in my camera, OBS won't recognise it as a video capture device and I can only choose my MacBook. It recognises it through audio input, but as a 'unknown USB device'.

Please advise!

How is the camera plugged in? If you open QuickTime, and select File->New Movie Recording, do you see your camera (capture card) available there?
