I got it to work so the way I fixed it was not clicking obs in the taskbar instead I went into the start menu and typed obs and opened 64bit hope this helps!

I still have this same (OLD) issue, was it solved for someone or was it left with the possible wordarounds?
Not always the solution described by Vidiks works, nor removing the .json files.

I just noticed that the first launch in the log it stops at:
[...]
10:46:26.535: Failed to initialize module 'enc-amf.dll'
10:46:26.595: [obs-browser]: Version 2.8.6
[...]

And in the second launch it works:
[...]
10:46:38.118: Failed to initialize module 'enc-amf.dll'
10:46:38.142: [obs-browser]: Version 2.8.6
10:46:38.183: VLC found, VLC video source enabled
10:46:38.192: A DeckLink iterator could not be created. The DeckLink drivers may not be installed
10:46:38.193: No blackmagic support
[...]

Yes, i do use windows 7 and it is not supported. I am just reopening this thread because some people reported the same behavior with windows 10.

I know, Im very new here, but I have found something which can be interessting about that problem.

The problem is located in the obs-browser-page.exe process which cant start properly with one of your setted browser sources like gamepad-viewer and also sometimes custom CSS instructions for the twitch chat itself. When you now think this is just a guess from me then I can say you. No, its not.

Here is a small part of my logfile on where I found the Problem. You will not get this message, when OBS will start. OBS will just write this log, when you import your scenes where the problem is located.
14:25:52.997: warning: deprecated pixel format used, make sure you did set range correctly
14:25:53.065: obs-browser: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'appendChild' of null (source: https://gamepadviewer.com/?p=1&s=1&map={"mapping":[{"targetType":"buttons","target":"0","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"0"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"1","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"8"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"3","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"9"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"2","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"3"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"9","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"12"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"4","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"4"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"5","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"5"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"8","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"2"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"6","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"6"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"7","disabled":false,"choiceType":"buttons","choice":"1"},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"12","disabled":true},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"13","disabled":true},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"14","disabled":true},{"targetType":"buttons","target":"15","disabled":true},{"targetType":"axes","target":"0","disabled":false,"choiceType":"","positive":{"choiceOperand":"+","choiceType":"axes","choice":"0"},"negative":{"choiceOperand":"-","choiceType":"axes","choice":"0"}},{"targetType":"axes","target":"1","disabled":false,"choiceType":"","positive":{"choiceOperand":"+","choiceType":"axes","choice":"1"},"negative":{"choiceOperand":"-","choiceType":"axes","choice":"1"}}]}:1)
14:25:54.181: obs-browser: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'appendChild' of null (source: https://www.twitch.tv/popout/g4mm4g0bl1n/chat?darkpopout=:1)
14:25:56.343: obs-browser: Uncaught SyntaxError: Identifier 'obsCSS' has already been declared (source: https://www.twitch.tv/popout/g4mm4g0bl1n/chat?darkpopout=:1)
14:25:57.697: obs-browser: Uncaught (in promise) ChunkLoadError: Loading chunk 73348 failed.
14:25:57.697: (error: https://static.twitchcdn.net/assets/features.emote-picker-397c3172997b74ff0e5c.js) (source: https://www.twitch.tv/popout/g4mm4g0bl1n/chat?darkpopout=:1)

I researched a bit, but I didnt found a better solution as mine.
Go to %appdata%\obs-studio\basic\scenes and cut out the scene collection which makes the problem and paste it to another location outside this folder. Start OBS (You will see, OBS will start imidiatly) and import your Scene Collection. When you are about to close OBS and you have changed something. Export your Scene Collection, delete it from the Scene Collection Menu and close OBS.

I hope this will help a lot, because I searched the web for the cause and the solution of the problem, but didnt found something helpful.

Hey same problem. Tried all above fixes which didn't work. But I just managed to solve by making changes to my default Windows 10 audio device. Unplugged my external MIDI keyboard (not even listed as the default device!) and it worked first time. OBS might be failing by trying to figure out audio-related stuff on your setup. Hope it helps!
