Question / Help OBS will not stream

So basically, everytime I try to stream OBS it freezes on the first frame and then stays there. I have looked this up but I havent found anything yet. I try to stream Borderlands 2 on 64 bit in case that affects it. I have 10 upload as well so it is not like my internet is really the issue. I can record and preview perfectly fine but when I try to stream it just does not work. Please help! Thanks!

You're trying to stream 1080p@60 video on 1500kbps, on a system that's falling over and messing itself (skipped/duplicated frames), on a much slower than the default (veryfast) preset. You're also trying to stream over a wifi connection, which is just a facepalm in and of itself, even without counting the rest of that particular crap sandwich.

You're going to need to dial it back A LOT, man.

Downscale to 720p, drop to 30fps, put your preset back to Veryfast. Your system is an i5, they tend to run out of gas after about that, when real-time video encoding is thrown into the mix. They just don't have the chops to keep up when gaming AND streaming. Oh, and swap to a wired connection. Wifi isn't designed for steady, high volume data transfer.

No idea where you got those settings, but they're entirely, wholly unfeasible. Go here and get some that don't suck: https://obsproject.com/estimator

I have 10 upload and 40 down bud. i think im fine. and i just did the estimator and it said i can do 1080p on 60 fps i just had to raise the bitrate. so chill bud.

Your stream is very much not fine, "bud".

Your computer is not powerful enough to stream at 1080p60 on the fast prest. The estimator said to consider 60fps if you have the extra CPU power, and you don't even have close to enough CPU power to do so. Furthermore, 1080p60 is extremely difficult for many computers to even watch due to how badly Flash handles such high framerate high resolution video.

And on top of that, you changed the x264 preset to "fast" which increases CPU usage even more. The estimator did not tell you to do that, and your CPU just cannot keep up.

Even if you had a CPU powerful enough to do 1080p60 encoding, you have your bit rate set to 1500kbps. That is absurdly low for 1080p60 video, and would look incredibly blurry.

If you want to stream at a resolution, frame rate, and bit rate that you can handle, then FerretBomb actually gave some decent advice. 720p30 (maybe 60) on veryfast is a good resolution/frame rate, and 2000kbps is a pretty reasonable bit rate for such a stream. Your system should be able to stream at those settings just great. If you have the extra bandwidth and don't mind putting more pressure on viewers to be able to download your stream at source quality, you can increase your bit rate some more. But you can't stream at 1800p60 on fast preset with only 1500kbps of bit rate.

I'd say that 2000 is actually a bit low for 720@60; at 30fps it'll give pretty good quality, but the lowest I'd recommend for 60 is 2500. Might be able to squeeze 720@45 on 2000, but even then it's probably going to be more than an i5 is going to be able to handle while also gaming, unless it's a VERY lightweight game.

As far as Merm goes, your bandwidth is not the problem. Your SETTINGS and HARDWARE are the problem. Along with apparently not understanding how to use the estimator. If you don't want to listen, then I'll simply say 'good luck, have a nice life'.
