Question / Help OBS/webcam crashes my PC

Hi,
Whenever i start streaming, or even preview it, my whole PC crashes. Everything stops responding, but the mouse still moves. After about 3 seconds, the mouse too will stop moving. This has happened a lot, mainly when I have a game open. I recently started streaming with the webcam off and it starts up fine, then after the CPU calms down I activated the webcam as a troubleshooting to see if it was crashing because of too much CPU usage.. This method worked, but only for a few streams. Then I tried streaming with the webcam on, but no game open in the background and this worked too until today. I had absolutely nothing open, click to preview stream and the PC crashes. Then, after i restart, OBS decided to have the most annoying problem ever.... All 6 of my scenes are EMPTY, one of them had over 10 different sources in it, so it'll take hours to restore them.

Why is this happening, and also why did the scenes clear themselves? My specs are below, starting with the webcam (the thing that appears to be the cause).

Webcam: Logitech C920
CPU: AMD FX-4100 Quad Core 3.6GHz
Motherboard: ASRock 960GM/U3S3
RAM: 8GB Crucial 1600MHz
GPU: XFX AMD HD 7850 2GB Double Dissipation Edition
Main Hard drive: 512GB Crucial MX100 SSD
Secondary Hard Drive: 1TB Hitatchi 7200RPM HDD

The crash log is attached because pastebin isn't working at the time of creative the thread. (there's two logs, so i'm not sure which one shows the crash, so i've combined them both together)

Thanks in advance,
Mike

post your logfile from the help menu. seems like you've had this issue for a while. anyway, your logfile can be uploaded from the help menu of OBS. copy the link and post the link to the log here.

I would remove the webcam source along with webcam global sources (if any)

Have you also tried running OBS as an admin?

Alright, all done! I can try to test it, but because it doesn't happen every time, there's no way of really getting back to you straight away, but I will keep you updated!

EDIT: I have discovered one thing, whenever I preview the stream then click "Stop Preview" the program crashes. I am using the OBS version which supports VCE (i had to download this separately) For some reason, I can't find the actual log in the Help menu. However, an error message did popup saying "Oops, OBS has crashed." It opened a text document which said a "minidump was saved to:" and a path. Just in case this txt file was useful, I've attached that too.

Does the crash occur in normal OBS as well?

If it just happens in the VCE build then you should probably post your issue here then: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs-branch-with-amd-vce-support.13996/ If you are using that build of course.
