Question / Help OBS Support Of Steam Overlay

Hi, I'm Companion and I have a problem. I want to record videos that include the game I'm playing, and when I go into the steam overlay, it records that as well. At this point, I really don't know how to record it, so if someone could help me out I would appreciate it very much. :)

Hmm, GameCapture should normally not show the Steam Overlay. Have you maybe used window/monitor capture to get your game into OBS? In that case, try switching to gamecapture :)

I worded my first post pretty horribly. The game I want to record records fine, but I also want to be able to record the steam overlay. Anyway this is possible?

He answered you already, sort of.

Use Monitor Capture instead of Game Capture to capture the Desktop and it will also get the Steam overlay and everything else on your Desktop.

When I use monitor/window capture and switch over to the game, it stays on the desktop instead of the game. Any possible way that the game can be an option for window capture? I'm honestly out of ideas. I don't want to record my desktop, I want to record my game and the overlay that comes with it.

Ah sorry for the missunderstanding. To your actual problem, its probably because the game runs in fullscreen. Set it to Windowed or Borderless mode in its graphic settings and window/monitor capture should work.
For fullscreen games only Game Capture works, but as you noticed, that wont show the overlay.
