OBS Studio 27.2 doesn't work - recorded video is dreadful

Hi,

I did the update for OBS Studio 27.2, but it is truly horrible on my PC.

Everything is as updated as it can be on my computer. When I installed an older version, all was perfectly fine again. I grabbed this one - 27.1.3 64 bit

Is this something others have experienced? Will there be a patch to solve this issue on 27.2?

And when I say the recording is dreadful, I mean that while open, OBS brings my PC to a virtual standstill. If I close OBS - all is good again, so at least I know it specifically an OBS software issue. It was literally working perfectly just before the update, which narrows it down to the update as the issue.

Also, more relevantly, the video it creates is totally unusable. Lots of frozen frames etc. I record in mkv, by the way, then convert to MP4 later.

Any thoughts?

I haven't included a log file since the issue is about an OBS update, and not my computer.

Please post a log with your issue! Here's how...

OBS Studio creates a log file each time you run it which contains very useful diagnostic information. Without a log file, it's much harder for any support volunteers to figure out problems and your post may be ignored. To upload a log file, go to the Help menu > Log Files > Upload Last Log...

as per the link you included - " a log file from a session where you didn't run into any problems is not useful"

it isn't from my last session, which is why I didn't include the log file. I've subsequently installed an older version, restarted my computer a bunch of times.

I am not running into the problem now I'm using an older version.

I'm just curious when the problem will be fixed, and if there are any work arounds I can use until then.
