Question / Help OBS starts recording when I start streaming and it's making the stream lag

Hi,
For some reason, after changing around with the settings in OBS a bit the stream has started recording instantly when I start streaming, which is making the stream lag for some viewers. It's also been troublesome making it stop recording mid stream.
I tried to go back to OBS defaults but the problem persists. Any ideas why?

How can something on your computer make the stream lag for SOME of your viewers?

Simple answer: it can't.

It's something other than the recording starting automatically.

Okay, because something is an issue for many viewers. And it started at the same times as the recording starting automatically, and when I get it to turn off finally, it stops for them. So I'm pretty sure it's connected, might just be that some people aren't picky with what's laggy and not.

Yes.

NVEnc's quality per bitrate is abysmal compared to x264.

And nvidia's drivers have been hit or miss lately for how they perform.

That might be the issue then, will try it out tomorrow. Should I use CFR of a custom x264 encoder? I used to use keyframe interval=120, is that better or worse than CFR?
Also, thank you very much for the responses!

No you should NOT use custom x264 commands.

OBS has a dedicated keyframe interval setting that you should use.

NO CUSTOM x264 COMMANDS FOR STREAMING

All the settings you need to use for streaming are available elsewhere
