Question / Help OBS Sound When Tabbed? Windowed Mode?

So from what I can tell, when I'm tabbed out the sound will stop, is there any way to alter that?

If I use Windowed mode, is it capturing an area on my screen? Anything infront of the window seems to get picked up instead.

Game mode solves this in a way, the video continues to play even while tabbed, but without sound.

Thanks!

What game? Also, if you're using window capture, you need aero enabled to prevent windows on top from capturing with it.

The game stops outputting sound when you tab out? No way around that that I know of unless there is a setting in the game.

It seems different depending on the game actually, DragonNests video keeps going, but audio stops, Leagues video stops but Audio continues. s:

Sorry, ignore my suggestion then, I didn't understand exactly what the problem was

Well, with the windowed issue, your suggestion worked and they no longer overlap which is great, I'm just wondering if there is a time when I should use windowed instead of game capture.

As for the second issue, when games are not my primary window, the audio or video cut off, I was just wondering if there is a way to fix that or if it's just something that occurs with this program.

Thanks again.

It's how the games work, it has nothing to do with OBS. Unless you still hear the audio but OBS doesn't, then something might be wrong.

The audio behavior is game-specific and generally by design. Some games will give you the option to continue playing sound when they lose focus. Beyond that there's not really much you can do.

That makes sense, what about the Video? Does that depend on having fullscreen on or off?

Seems like Fullscreen games freeze up and Windowed ones do not, will test m0ar when I can.

Thanks a lot.

Yes, rendering a game which you can't see is just a waste of resources.

I just notice streamers frequently tab away from the game and it continues to display and run normally, I just feel like it's more viewer friendly, I'd like to achieve the same thing with OBS if at all possible.
